Elmina Castle holds historical significance as one of the most important sites in the Atlantic Slave Trade. For nearly three centuries, Ghanaians---nearly 10,000 per year at its peak--- were taken from their homes and sent off from Elmina into slavery.

Elmina today has been restored as a reminder of a devastating past. These hand-made necklaces, filled with sand from Elmina, allow us to carry that reminder forward with us as we work to build a new future for Ghana. Soon, you'll be able to have one too!
