OUR STORY

Hope for Sisi’s Kids (HOSIKIDS) is a foundation that supports the development of Bawaleshie Elementary and Middle School, a rural community school in the Greater Accra region of Ghana, West Africa. HOSIKIDS was founded in loving memory of Ms. Gladys Komle Tawiah (1942-2010). Sisi, as she is affectionately called by family and friends passed away on Friday, April 23rd 2010 from a rare cancer of the uterus at a relatively young age of 67 years in East Amherst, NY. She retired as an educationist after 42 years of service to the Ghana Education Service. At a young age she started her career as a school teacher, teaching in rural community schools until she settled as the District Education Officer, Garrison Education Office of the Ghana Armed Forces Schools. Following her death the grandchildren of Sisi created this organization to fulfill Sisi’s dream and vision of providing quality education for rural communities.
